Mount Saint Joseph is the Gold Standard for AP Scores

Out of 409 Advanced Placement (AP) exams taken by 193 Mount Saint Joseph students in 2023, 93% scored 3 or higher, allowing them the opportunity to earn college credit. This is more than double the national passing rate of 44.1%. Over one-third (36.4%) of the exams taken by MSJ students were scored at a 5, the highest mark, meaning MSJ students earned the highest AP score at a rate that was more than triple the national rate.

Tying last year’s record number, 80 MSJ students earned the AP Scholar Award, which is granted to students who score 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. AP Scholars earned an average score of 4.12 on their exams, which is the highest average score of AP Scholars in MSJ history.

Mount Saint Joseph was recognized in every category of the College Board’s AP School Honor Roll Metrics earning GOLD recognition for College Credit, with 44% of students in the Class of 2023 scoring 3+ on an AP exam in high school, and for College Optimization, with 11% of students in the Class of 2023 having taken 5 or more AP exams in high school. MSJ also earned BRONZE recognition for College Culture, with 47% of students experiencing at least one AP course before graduating.
