Sustainability Update

What's the Buzz?
This spring, Mount Saint Joseph welcomed three bee colonies to our new apiary! The bee boxes were built by students in our environmental engineering club, and members of our faculty and staff will be caring for the bees. MSJ alumnus Bill Glover '84 and the Howard County Beekeepers Association have provided guidance throughout the installation process as well as training for our volunteer beekeepers. The project was made possible by a grant from the Chesapeake Bay Trust.

Sustainability Scholars Recognized for Efforts
Our Sustainability Scholars took home second place and a $1,000 check for the Baltimore City Department of Public Works Eco-Warrior Schools Competition! They earned badges for our various sustainability initiatives on campus including our hydroponic gardens, raised garden beds, beehives, pollinator gardens, and tree plantings.
