Congratulations to our AOB Distinctive Scholars

Congratulations to James DeMaria '20, Robin Paranliam '20, and Christian Woo '20, who have been recognized by the Archdiocese of Baltimore as Distinctive Scholars! They were selected for demonstrating an integration of their faith, learning, commitment to growth, and passion for helping others.

James is president of the Business Club and vice president of the National Honor Society. His challenging course load includes AP Calculus AB, AP Chemistry, and AP Statistics. He is interested in finance and has completed two externships through the Business Club. "Attending Catholic school has given me opportunities to be more active in my faith and build relationships that will last a lifetime," he says. "I have had the opportunity to share my faith journey with my classmates and I have learned to be open about new ideas, experiences, and opportunities along the way."

Robin has a range of academic interests including science, literature, theology, and computer science. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to start his own business, Curry in a Hurry. "Catholic school has helped me understand how faith and reason are complementary, how the pursuit of knowledge and the quest to know God are not contradictory," he says. "Catholic education has pushed me to develop my whole self - intellectually, socially, and spiritually."

Christian is a naturally gifted student who has enrolled in a number of advanced math and science courses throughout his career at Mount Saint Joseph. "Attending a Catholic school has instilled in me the values that will help me live a meaningful life," he says. "I've had the opportunity to broaden my horizons and become a well-rounded person."
