Jason Israel '96 - Australian Adventure

Jason and his Australian-born wife, Caroline, met as graduate students at Harvard. In 2018, Caroline was offered a job in Sydney with her company, and Jason resigned from his position as vice president of the non-profit Baltimore Corps at the White House to move across the world with his family. Here, he is able to continue his work as a commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve by assisting in building diplomatic relations with Australia. Additionally, Jason is a strategy director for Hart International, cyber advisor for Partners in Performance Australia, global security correspondent for Sky News, and guest lecturer at the University of Sydney and Australian National University.

Over the past ten years, Jason has also lived in Europe and Africa and feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to live in several counties. "I most enjoyed the relaxed attitude and fierce commitment to family in Italy; the ability to find true joy and happiness even in scorching hot weather and without much in terms of material possessions in Djibouti; the fun-loving, athletic, self-deprecating attitudes of Australians," he says.
