Mount Saint Joseph High School, a Catholic school for boys in Baltimore, Maryland, sponsored by the Xaverian Brothers, has an opening for an Assistant to the Director of Students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Acknowledge and review emails for attendance notifications, which include absences, tardies, and/or early dismissals, and post to student’s attendance record in AdminPlus
Save emails regarding student’s attendance status for each student electronically
Process students with absence notes, early dismissal notes, and dress code issues
Distribute late passes to students arriving late to school (determine which passes are excused or unexcused)
Refer students who are chronically late to the Director of Students
Collect substitution attendance sheets from the proctor – in the classroom or from the library
Answer phone calls and voicemails
Pull 1st period attendance and send emails to those teachers who failed to submit attendance
Pull 2nd period attendance to verify absences and senior tardies to resolve any attendance discrepancies
Send emails to 1st and 2nd period teachers to resolve any attendance discrepancies
Publish daily attendance and email it to the entire staff by the end of homeroom
Review period attendance for absences not accounted for (possible cuts) and unexcused tardies – create a list for the Director of Students
Write disciplinary action slips for students whose phones were confiscated by teachers and turned into the office without a disciplinary action sheet
Send disciplinary action emails to parents electronically once inputted into the system
Print detention attendance sheet for the proctor
Scan attendance notes and file them electronically
Prepare a list of seniors with perfect attendance for their four years at MSJ for a graduation award
Complete all other tasks/duties assigned by the Director of Students and Assistant Director of Students
Maintain calendar for the Director of Students
Assign and maintain locker lists for the school and student body
File any suspension, removal from class, and/or disciplinary action paperwork into student files
Create student hard files
Assist parents who wish to sign out their son for an early dismissal if they come into the building
Create a tardy and absentee sheet each Friday for the Director of Students who have hit a specific number – dictated by the Director of Students
Assist with bus schedule construction and determination of riders
Assist with students who are requesting a parking pass
