Mount Saint Joseph proudly celebrates a historic milestone for longtime Varsity Head Soccer Coach Michael St. Martin, who earned his 300th career victory, adding another remarkable achievement to his 30-year tenure leading the Gaels.

The victory came on Friday, October 16, in a 2-0 win against Gilman. Junior Francis Duodu scored the game’s two goals, with one coming via an assist from junior Garrett Greb.

"Michael St. Martin’s impact on Mount Saint Joseph goes far beyond the soccer field,” says the school’s Athletic Director, Kraig Loovis. “His 30 years as our head coach, nearly three decades in our classrooms, and countless relationships with student athletes have made him an important part of the fabric of The Mount. The championships, Final Four appearances, and nationally recognized teams are an impressive reflection of his coaching, but his greatest legacy is the young men he has challenged, mentored, and helped develop along the way.”

Under his leadership, the Gaels have captured four Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Championships – 2001, 2005, 2009, and 2020. His individual coaching accolades include three Baltimore Sun Coach of the Year awards, three Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer (MACS) Coach of the Year awards, and recognition as National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Regional Coach of the Year.

Earlier this month, Mount Saint Joseph welcomed former soccer players, family members, and members of the community to the school’s Plevyak Field for a special celebration, honoring Coach St. Martin’s 30 years of service. The recognition took place ahead of the Gaels’ matchup against the Calvert Hall Cardinals.

During the ceremony, St. Martin was joined by his wife, Lara; daughter, Brooke, and her husband, Cody Lancelotti; sons and Mount soccer alumni Brett '18 and Brian '22; and parents, Art and Barbara St. Martin. After the game, former players joined for a reunion where they shared stories of their time at Mount Saint Joseph and reflected on Coach St. Martin's lasting impact on their lives.

Mount Saint Joseph High School congratulates Coach Michael St. Martin on his 300th career victory and thanks him for 30 extraordinary years of dedication, leadership, and service to The Mount.
