Admissions Process

 

ADMISSIONS/PLACEMENT/SCHOLARSHIP TEST USE:

All eighth-grade applicants must take the Archdiocesan Admissions Test, December 4, 2010 8:00am – 12:00pm, at Mount Saint Joseph High School.  The test will be used along with other information in order to make an admission decision.  It also is used for placement and scholarship purposes.  There is a test fee of $30.00.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE/TIME LINE/FEE: 

Students from Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of Baltimore must complete the MSJ Application for Admission as well as the Archdiocesan application form, which will be provided by their school in December.  Students from public and non-Catholic private schools must complete the Application for Admission and send it to the Director of Admissions.  These students also must submit the Records Release form to their current school to obtain required information for an admission decision.  Deadline for regular admission of all applicants is January 5, 2011.

In late January, applicants who listed Mount Saint Joseph as their first or second choice will be contacted by letter with a day and time for a personal interview which will take place between January 18-20 and 24-27, 2011.

Any applicant listing MSJ as 3rd choice must contact the Admissions Office to request an interview.

Decision letters will be mailed on February, 16, 2011. 

STUDENT VISIT DAYS

Student visit days are available from October 4, 2010 through April 14, 2011. Please contact Mrs. Arlene Beach via email , or call 410-644-3300, extension 347 for details and to schedule a day.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS: 

MSJ offers an Honors Program; 16 Advanced Placement/College Level courses; the Ryken Program with instructional strategies geared for students who have demonstrated some difficulty in learning; the DePaul Program for dyslexic students; freshman and junior seminars aimed at helping students with study skills, high school life, and college preparedness; Latin; computer and writing labs; a wide offering of music and art courses; and retreats.
