Current Students in the News

Current students Tommy O'Donnell '11 and Steven Hildebrand '12 were profiled in an article as a result of their recent award wins.

O'Donnell placed second in the state of Maryland and first in his district for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Voice of Democracy contest. He received his prize on February 8th at the Charlestown VFW Post.

Hildebrand was a finalist in IBM's Master the Mainframe contest. He advanced to the round where prizes were awarded and won a “Master the Mainframe” T-shirt. IBM recognized Hildebrand’s accomplishment with a letter stating his programming abilities. This contest was designed to equip students with basic skills to make them more competitive for jobs in the enterprise computing industry. To be recognized by IBM, he had to log on remotely to an IBM mainframe and code selected problems.

Alumni in the News

Alumnus Eric Atkins '10 was also in the news this week. The following article, found on Yahoo! Sports, gives an update on the MSJ alumnus.  Atkins signed with Notre Dame last year.

Atkins averages 6.6 points per game overall and 6.1 in Big East play. He’s converted a decent 43.3 percent of his 120 shots, including a respectable 36.5 percent (19-of-52) from three-point range and has shown an excellent feel for when to launch his shot.
